Converse
Converse is an American footwear brand founded in 1908 as the Converse Rubber Shoe Company by Marquis Mills Converse. The brand rose to prominence in 1917 with the launch of the iconic Chuck Taylor All Stars. Through a collaboration with basketball player Chuck Taylor, Converse designed a high-top canvas shoe with a rubber sole that quickly gained popularity among basketball players before evolving into a symbol of rebellion and youth culture in the 1950s and 1960s.
Despite facing financial challenges over the years, Converse’s cultural significance endured, and in 2003, the brand was acquired by Nike. Under Nike’s ownership, Converse experienced a revival through new designs and creative collaborations, while the Chuck Taylor All Stars remained a timeless classic.
