New Balance
New Balance, a footwear and athletic apparel brand, has a history that dates back to the early 20th century. It all began in 1906 in Boston, Massachusetts, when William J. Riley, a British immigrant, founded the New Balance Arch Support Company. Riley’s initial focus was on creating insoles and orthopedic shoes designed to improve comfort and relieve foot-related issues. Over time, the brand gained a reputation for its innovative approach to footwear, and by the 1930s, they expanded their product line to include running shoes with unique support features.
However, it was in the 1960s that New Balance truly established its identity and popularity. They introduced the Trackster, one of the world’s first running shoes with a ripple sole, offering improved traction and performance across various terrains. The Trackster became a hit among athletes, and its success laid the foundation for New Balance’s position as a leading athletic footwear manufacturer. What sets New Balance apart from many of its competitors is the company’s commitment to domestic production. They proudly manufacture a significant portion of their footwear in the United States, making them one of the few athletic brands to do so.
