Omega
Omega is one of the most renowned and respected watch brands in the world. Since its founding in 1848 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, Omega has achieved numerous milestones and innovations that have made it a legendary watchmaker.
In the early 20th century, Omega introduced several groundbreaking innovations that strengthened its reputation as a leading watch manufacturer. In 1917, Omega became the official supplier of wristwatches to the British Royal Navy during World War I. Later, at the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics, Omega became the official timekeeper for the first time in Olympic history.
In 1957, Omega launched one of its most iconic and enduring collections, the Omega Speedmaster. The Speedmaster became NASA’s official watch and earned the nickname “Moonwatch” after becoming the first watch worn on the moon during the Apollo 11 mission in 1969. The reliability and precision of Omega watches proved to be a significant advantage for NASA astronauts.
Omega continues to develop new innovations and technologies. In 1999, the brand introduced the co-axial escapement, a revolutionary mechanism that reduces friction within the movement and improves accuracy. Omega has also been a pioneer in the use of advanced materials such as ceramic, carbon, and titanium in watchmaking.
